That when you teach, you have to prepare yourself for a life of little financial reward, but also a life of infinite joy and heartwarming moments. These are things that money cannot buy.
All true...

2011 rolls in
I’m friends with some of the kids in my first batch of preschoolers on FB and my, how they have grown. I sometimes wonder if they still remember the times we spent together when they were 3-5 years old. Some people don’t even remember anything from that time in their lives.

Also, if...

When people ask me what I do, I respond with, “It’s complicated.” I am a combination of many different things because I have yet to anchor myself to one single profession. Most of the time, I end up saying that I am a preschool teacher which is really what I want my legacy to be. Or, in a more fantastic form, someone who changes the landscape of preschool education in the...

I got the questions for my comprehensive exam today, all 5 of them. You might think that 5 isn’t a lot but when you see how long each question-stated-in-a-paragraph is, you’ll think twice.
It makes me rethink and reestablish my stand on certain issues that concern Early Childhood Education in our country. Certainly, it has forced me to research on substantial studies and articles so I...

Dear Mr. President,
Or whoever has the power to change things,
I think the reason why our educational system is weak is because we focus too much on the students and ignore the needs of the teachers. I am all for a child-centered curriculum but if we don’t take the time to support our teachers, they will never reach the quality of teaching that will benefit our students the most. Let’s set our standards...

This is a shortened version of my reflection, that...
When I started implementing the Project Approach, I was feeling scared but at the same time challenged. It was a whole new environment, a new set of students and an entirely new approach that I hardly knew anything about. Even after I read books or watched videos about it, it was hard to imagine how to exactly go about an inquiry-based curriculum.
It would be honest to say that I was undertaking...

veronica-wasboyski asked: Hello, I'm a big fan of "The Otherness of Things" but I didn't know until today that you were a teacher! I'm in college right now, trying to figure out what to do with my life and I've been thinking of becoming a teacher (Elementary, most likely). Do you have any advice, warnings, or encouragement about pursuing that? Thanks!
